- Does Windows XP use all the memory in my system
- Posted by Howard Weiss on March 29th, 2006
My system processor is a Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 5
GenuineIntel ~3199 Mhz. I have 8 GB of memory in the system. I am running
Windows XP Professional Version 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp2-gdr.050301-1519 SP2.
About Windows tells me that the Physical Memory available to Windows is
3,406,812 KB or about 1/2 the actual memory in the system. Is Windows using
all 8 GB and, if so, how?

Hi Howard,
WindowsXP supports up to 4gb of ram. More than that will be ignored, and
could cause system instability.
