- Domain Use and domain admin
- Posted by JYANG on October 7th, 2005
WIndows XP, domain user will act as a user and domain admin will act as an
administrator. Let say, i have an account (username: AAA) with a domain user
role. When i login to the Windows XP, i can't use the windows XP properly as
below: 1) Can't use the clip art gallery in microsoft Office 2) Can't click
the 'Connect to other device' in the Picture Gear Lite. Eveything is fine if
a login as a domain admin (username: BBB). Thereore, what changes i have to
make to enable the domain users can used those functions? I have another
question to ask. Let say i have an account(username: CCC) with domain user
role. Therefore the account only can act as a user in WIndows XP. When i
change the role of the username:CCC to domain admin, why can't the Windows XP
recognize username:CCC as a administrator role? It still recognize
username:CCC as a user only
I don't want add the domain user as the local administrator. Therefore, what
should i chage in registry to enable the functions above work fine in domain
user's account?

First, the Domain Admins group would need to be added to the local
Administrators group for user CCC to have local admin rights.
Second, have you tried adding user AAA into the Poweruser group to see if
that helps?

I already add the domain admins group to the local administrator group.
Windows XP seems do keep the history that usrname:CCC is a domain user.
Therefore, i still recognize username:CCC as a domain admin although i have
change the role of the username:CCC to domain admin.
Actually, i just want to control and prevent users to not install any
illegal software. So, what is the difference between poer user and user?

First, you need to wait more than 1.5 hours before whining out your
problem a second time. Wait at least 24 hours before reposting.
Impatience is not well regarded or rewarded here.
