Good day to you all, does anyone know where I can download a beta copy of
Vista / longhorn.
Thank you...

You can only download Vista from these legal distribution channels:

- Technical Betatester
- MSDN Suscriber

Kurt was being Curt -

Vista is "Beta" and has no customer preview at this stage of development.
Maybe it was just somebody curious about the software and believed he
could obtain a copy. Microsoft has said that as the software progresses
through the normal cycles (Beta 2, Release Candidates) they will make it
more widely available. Currently, only Technical Beta testers and those
who have a TechNet or MSDN (Microsoft Developers Network) account
have access to the OS.

It was a direct answer to the question that was asked.

> Just wondering.

Why? Didn't you read and understand the question and answer?

The question was, does anyone know where to download Vista. And that is
a simple question that only asks for a simple yes or no answer. Yes, I
know where it can be downloaded from.

People that come here begging for answers need to learn how to help
themselves by asking the questions that they really want the answers to.

I agree that people come here looking for answers and most people reply with
a informative answer or where to obtain more information so they can better
help themselves when they have a problem.

You know the answer to the question would have been something like:

Vista is "Beta" and has no customer preview at this stage of development.
Maybe it was just somebody curious about the software and believed he
could obtain a copy. Microsoft has said that as the software progresses
through the normal cycles (Beta 2, Release Candidates) they will make it

This is what R.McCarty wrote in his informative answer unlike you who is
just a jerk with nothing better to do.

And some actually answer the question that was asked, not ones that
weren't.

> You know the answer to the question would have been something like:

No. Not to the question that was asked. It was a simple yes or no
question as it was written. Any other answer would have been
presumptuous, answering a question that was not asked.

Hmm! Seems that there are other places to download it to me.

He presumed to answer a question that wasn't asked. I literally
answered the question that actually was asked, if you believe that not
being presumptuous makes me a "jerk," I can live with it, and just
consider this one of the sometimes you are wrong.
