drive not accessible; file or directory corrupted
Posted by Cervino on January 3rd, 2008

I'm running XP Pro SP2 problem free for the last year with three drives (C -
system drive, D - software drive, G - data drive). This afternoon, I
uninstalled CA Antivirus from my system which required a reboot to complete.
When my system booted back up I found that my D drive was no longer
accessible. Its icon shows up in mycomputer, but when I click on it I get the
message:

D:\ is not accessible
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

Any thoughts on what's going on here and how to fix it? I'm out of ideas.
Thanks!

I've tried right clicking on properties on the drive and running
error-checking, but after clicking start on check disk nothing happens. No
drive activity as far as I can tell. I tried rebooting into safe mode and
going to command prompt and manually running check disk, but to no avail.
