- DVD Problem
- Posted by Peter on January 3rd, 2008
I have Sony DVD RW DW-26A
DVD drive on Windows XP Pro SP2
The Device status shows
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I've remved the device from the device manager and let Windows reload the
driver, but the same error appears
I've thried to update the driver but Windows is telling me I have the upto
date driver.
The DVD drive works fine on a diferent computer.
How can I fix this problem?
Thank you
Peter

The problem may be with the BIOS ESCD data. Try resetting this from within
the BIOS startup options. (Delete key on startup, or F2 on some Acers/HP's)
ESCD option is usually under 'PCI settings' or suchlike.
