We can't help you unless you supply a lot more information about your
system, how you are installing (upgrade, clean-install), and the exact
text of the error message. Here is a link to help you write a good
newsgroup post so you will see the sort of information needed:

Very generally, failure to install an operating system usually means
some hardware component is faulty, but since we know nothing about your
computer, etc. that is just a generalization and may not be applicable
in your case.

Yep, lots of people here have good information on how to fix problems
with XP. You just need to supply some information on what the problem is.

I get that the problem can be anything from a bios problem to ram failure to
HD ect. correct if this is the case I will put together the total system
cofig. back in a few minutes. Thanks but rock if I would have known I
would have givenit to you in advance but always remember the only dumb
question is the one that doesn't get ask but thanks I get back and thank you

I don't know where you think you stated the specs, but it doesn't show
up anywhere in this thread. Also, by posting your real unmunged email
address you've made it available to spambots for harvesting. Unless the
above is a junk mail account and you don't care, you might want to
munge in future:

So you have 640MB of RAM?
An unknown Nvidia card?
A Maxtor 120GB hdd
An installed XP Pro SP2?
When do you get the error message? What is the exact text of the error
messgae? What exactly are you trying to do? What changed before the
time things worked and the time they didn't?
Again, please see how to create a good newsgroup post:
