- Explorer hangs when mapped drive is unavailable
- Posted by Ballinski on December 27th, 2007
We use mapped drives for all of our XP desktops in our windows 2003 server
domain. We use DFS for a file server which sits on a windows 2003 cluster.
Occasionally this server will get busy with disk IO or the cluster service
may be unresponsive for a few minutes. When ever connection to this mapped
drive is interrupted all of the clients have their workstations lock up and
explorer.exe will hang when they try to brows their drives or access my
computer. I have searched high and low for a solution for this but finding a
good solution. Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced this? The
drives are mapped with login scripts and set with the persistent no being set
during login.
Thanks.
