Hi guys!

Here is a quick question. I've got a laptop with an NVIDIA graphics
card, it supports multiple monitors. I usually connect an external monitor
to the laptop connected to a docking station. I use the monitor display as
the second monitor and place it to the right of my external keyboard. Then I
use the external monitor as my primary display. During normal use of my
laptop, I drag windows and applications over ot the laptop (secondary)
display. When I undock my laptop, and go back to a single monitor (the
laptop display), if I try to open any applications or files that were
previously displayed on the secondary monitor (the laptop display during
docking), they do not show up. The tray icons appear, but if I try to view
the actual windows, nothing appears. The windows are remembering what
display they were on, and my laptop aparently isn't informing those windows
that the monitor they are trying to display to is no longer available. In my
display properties, the second monitor shows as not connected, and I set my
laptop display as the primary.

So my question is, does anyone know how to clear the memory of the
explorer and application window history? I just want to reset the "memory"
of previously used windows in Windows XP. I'm sure there is a registry key
or a temp file somewhere I can alter or delete to cause all activity to
display on the primary monitor. Anyone have any suggestions? I've searched
goodle and only see references to Internet Explorer browser window location
history, I've not seen anything referencing application and file window
history.

Do you UNcheck "Extend My Desktop to This Monitor" before you undock/turn off
the other monitor?
[Can't be of much more help; I have ATI and Desktops.]

Thanks for the reply. No, I do not uncheck it, when I undock my laptop, it
automatically disconnects the external monitor, and unchecks the box on its
own. But apps still try to display on that monitor and don't appear on the
laptop display. I figured out how to get the one main app I was worried
about to re-appear. So I guess you guys can ignore this question now.

That's great that you found the answer, but could you inform us of how you
did it? This could be really useful for other people who have the same
question, AKA me. Thanks!
