- file delete

Whenever I try to delete a group of files I always get a pop up window that
says the files can't be found. I can delete them one at a time and sometimes
two at a time but never a whole buch at once. Is the an environment variable
or something that limits the number of files I can delete? Trying more than
one file at the command line with wildcards doesn't work either.
Perplexed.
