I am having issues with my Firewire Card and/or the External Hard Drive. I
have a Western Digital Firewire card, model # WDAD003-RNW and i have an ACOM
Data External 160 GB Hard drive that is Firewire/USB-2 Combo.
Everytime i start up my PC with the card in and drive powered up, the PC
recognizes that the drive is there and I am easily able to view the contents
of the drives via Windows Explorer. However, when i start to access files on
it the PC will lose its connection to drive after a couple of minutes. If i
try to copy and paste files from the external drive to the PC, the PC will
give me an error that it cannot read from the source because it was
unplugged. it will start the copying proccess, but it will hang on me and
then tell me that the drive is no longer reachable.
I know that my laptop is on the older side, and i have a dual boot with
Windows 98. I get the same issues with Windows 98 as well. I have a 650MHz
with 384MB RAM. Are there any additional drives that i need to download or
any settings that i need to change to fix this? Thanks.
