Getting text to speech working in other programs

Getting text to speech working in other programs: Posted by Leshek on December 23rd, 2005; How do I get text to speech working in XP Pro. for other applications?

I managed to get text to speech working in XP pro. on MS Word, but not in
notepad or 3-rp party apps. Is it possible with MS engine at all?
