I turn my PC on and wait for it to boot up. I click my user name to log on
and wait for it to log on and my destop comes on but none of my icons come up
in the bottom right corner and when i move my curcer over the start button,
the curser turns to the loading symbol. Can anyone possiably help??

It could be a number of things, if you are using Symantec AntiVirus it
could be doing a scan of your computer once it starts up, that is what
was causing our computers here to hang.

There could be a million things that make your computer hang.
