Running XP home sp/2 on a Sony Vaio laptop with 3.2 ghz and 1gb ram.

Each time an application defauts to `My Documents' at the beginning of
a save as and I click the dropdown menu to navigate I get a rather
hefty pause. Something in the neighborhood of maybe 12-16 seconds.

No other parts of the navigation to `save as' exibit this behavior.
Just the initial click to drop down the navigation menu.

Anyone here have a clue what might be the cause of this?

shot in the dark, is your Virus Scanner scanning the file before it allows
you to save it? (scan on create/save...)
