I need to run Virus Scan.. it takes a few hours. If I leave my machine, the
computer lock stops all processses after 10 or 15 minutes. I want to start
virus scan and leave my computer.. is there a way for it to run an
application while the computer is locked.... how can i change the defatul
time on the lock???

If you right-click any empty area on the Desktop and select Properties, Screensaver tab, you will see a 'Wait' box with the time in minutes before the screensaver is shown (and the computer will be locked if the 'On resume, password protect' or 'On resume, display Welcome screen' box is checked).

Hi,
First, do this in Safe mode, as most viruses now can mask themselves from
detection while running in normal mode. In safe mode most will not be
enabled, and it makes detection easier:

As to the system locking, it should not affect whether or not the scan
continues. However, if you like, go to the control panel/display and on the
screensaver tab first change the timeout period to the max. Then click on
power options and disable standby.
