How do I get rid of the 'new hardware found wizard' window?
Posted by geezer on April 23rd, 2006

WXP PRO SP2 -

I need to do is get rid of the danged 'new hardware
found wizard' window. Its a pain - by coming up and staying up on
every boot despite the fact that the scanner hardware involved (UMAX
Powerlook II) is installed and working fine. If I let the wizard
re-do to install, the wizard just comes back even though the wizard
completes okay. If I cancel out of the wizard, the blasted window
just re-appears immediately. It never gets tired, but I sure do.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all your advice and help

Find out the .exe of "found new hardware" then go to run, type:cmd In cmd
type out the .exe of the wizard, then space type:/c You could also type
the.exe
then space type:REVERT

Maybe I don't understand what you are saying - It seems to me that the
'found new hardware wizard' wants to keep installing a Powerlook II
driver.

I don't see any .exe being sought. How would I find such a file? Are
you sure you mean a .exe file? I do see a .inf being sought. And,
maybe some .dll's unspecified.

Maybe you mean the wizard executable (ie wizard.exe or some such)?

Thanks
