- How to restore IE from the automatic download of files

Hi there,
I have a little issue when, in Internet Explorer (SP2), I click a file
such as an .exe, a .zip, a .mp3 or a .wav, it automatically opens
instead of asking me if wether I want to save it on my desktop or not.
Does anyone knows how I can get back this dialog box ?
I've been looking in Kelly's XP corner website but didn't find any tips
on this one.

Try this:
In IE, to to tools (top of the screen) then INTERNET OPTIONS.
Click the SECURITY tab.
Click the CUSTOM LEVEL button.
Scroll down until you find DOWNLOADS---AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS
The button for prompting has probably been clicked off. Click it back
on.
You should be back to normal

I already tried to switch this "Confirm Downloading" on and off (and
now I've just turned the whole security to the "Medium" risk default
template).
No changes unfortunately, but very glad to have your feedback so
quickly ! Thanx alot.

Enable the "Confirm open after download" option for that file type(s)
Example: To enable the open / save prompt for .XLS files, try this:
Open Control Panel, double-click Folder Options
Click the File Types dialog
Select XLS (Microsoft Excel Worksheet)
Click the Advanced button
Enable the option Confirm open after download
Click OK, OK to close the dialog

Bingo ! That was it.Thank you so much Ramesh. Well, I guess even if I
know how to use Microsoft's product I'm far from being operational as a
