- I need an touch screen keyboard at login time for WinXP Pro
- Posted by sdmorris on May 18th, 2006
I am developing a touch screen program, running on WinXP Pro.
Everything is fine except for the initial Windows login, which requires a
keyboard.
I would like to have an touch screen keyboard, like the one on on WinXP
Tablet Edition. Does anyone know how I can do that?

First, the computer would have to have a touch screen.................

I take it the difficulty is getting the keyboard to show up before
login.
There is a hacking trick that works on win2k, that may be bent to a
purpose, that I've not tried on XP, so grain of salt time.
rename login.scr to login.bak
rename <yourkeyboard.exe> to login.scr
set the timeout for the screensavers as low as it will go.
the keyboard should appear shortly after login.
I'm pretty sure there's a better way to do this, though.

Nevermind.
