IBM T40 odd network card issues
Posted by Brett Michaels from Poison on October 24th, 2005

I am seeing some weird occurrences with the thinkpad t40 family.
Users can connect fine with wired connections. The oddities begin when
they go wireless. First, when wireless is active, the system DISABLES
wired, and you can't enable it at all(the wired network adapter).
Second, when the wireless is active, ipconfig won't work at all. The
command fails. I am only seeing this issue with T40 family laptops. The
t42s that we distribute are working fine.
The network cards are intel mobile 2100 wireless bg series.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone have any guesses about
what may be going on. I'm first inclined to think it's a driver issue
for the wireless card..
Thanks for any help!!

Is it the original image from IBM?

Have you contacted IBM about it?

No it's not the original image from IBM. We create our own image set.
IBM's support doesn't really have any answers. Research on this problem
exposed various fixes that we are going to test ranging from running
winsockxpfix to repair tcp stack corruptions to enabling certain
services.
