Since installing SP2, when I try and accept windows updates, the download
goes OK, but installation freezes at "Initialising Installation...". If I
click the Cancel button it then freezes at "Cancelling Installation...".

I have run several Anti Spyware applications before I installed SP2;
Microsoft beta, Spybot, Aluria Security Centre and Ad-Aware personal, and for
virus protection I use Norton Internet Security 2006. None of these
application scans showed and problems.

My PC runs a P4 cpu, 1GB RAM and has sevaral discs, XP is on a 73GB SCSI
disc, prior to this I had an Athlon processor, and had tried SP2 on that
configuration with the same results, using the same hard disc each time.
I have a second XP installation on an IDE disc in the same PC and this one
has SP2 and actually works for updates, but it is very slow, hence my change
to a different disc.

Apart from this one problem, the PC works fine, so I doubt it is a device
drive, or hardware or surely teh IDE installation would show the same problem.

Is there anyone here who knows about this and how to solve the problem?
