"List View" columns width
Posted by Rich on November 23rd, 2005

Last year I downloaded some kind of freeware/shareware program that would
customize your folder settings. One option was to adjust the width of the
columns when you have a folder set to "List View".

At the time, I made the columns extremely wide to read all of the file names
without Windows shortening them up. Now, these columns are much too wide and
I would like to reduce the width back to normal. How can I do this?

Hi,

Hit ctrl+ the plus (+) sign in the number pad to reset them.

Thank you for helping me but unfortunately, your suggestion didn't work. As
best as I could tell, nothing happened.

Hi,

Make sure that you a) click in the right pane first and b) are using the
plus (+) sign on the numberpad, not the one on the alpha portion of the
keyboard (in a laptop, use the Fn key and appropriate corresponding key,
often the colon).

Double click the header divider to open a column to the width needed to view
the longest entry. You have to drag it back to get it to be narrow again.

Click and Drag a header divider to change the width of a column.
