I'm about to migrate about 6 users on a one-server network from NT to AD
(WS2003). It was decided to NOT use ADMT... because the network was so
small, it was actually faster/cleaner to avoid ADMT.
The biggest remaining step is migrating user LOCAL PROFILES from their old
NT domain to new AD domain. And my questions are related to that. (Note:
All client PC's are XP Pro)
1. What is the best *and* most complete method for making backup of a
profile before migrating it? SystemProperties->UserProfiles->CopyTo or
File Settings and Transfer Wizard or ??
2. Most users are keeping *same* computer so I was planning on using
MOVEUSER utility to convert their old profile. My tests w/ moveuser have
been good. But would there be any significant benefits to using User State
Migration Tool or FSTW instead?
3. One user is moving to a *new* machine, which is being set up from
scratch.
I'm guessing that moveuser would NOT make sense in this situation. Would
USMT or FSTW be better advised?
Thanks in advance,
