Mapped network drive won't save password
Posted by KAM on February 20th, 2006

One of our associates purchased a new Sony Laptop with XP Home. I mapped all
of his network drives just like before and checked the "reconnect at logon" -
but every time he shuts down he has to put his password in again. This
wasn't happening before - the only difference is that he has XP Pro on his
old laptop.
Any ideas???
Thanks

Drives don't "save" passwords but operating systems do.
Make sure that the account/password you use on your
own PC is also defined on the Sony laptop so that it
recognises you and does not treat you as a stranger.

Is the office network a domain? XP Home can't join a domain although it
can use domain resources. Let us know the details of the network to
which he is connecting so we don't just guess wildly and waste your
time (and ours).
