- Media Connect won't start because UPnP Host Device svc won't start
- Posted by Dale on November 30th, 2005
Hi,
I'm running XP Pro w/SP2 and all patches. I installed Windows Media Connect
2.0 via WindowsUpdate. When I tried to start WMC, I get this error in the
eventvwr:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7001
Description:
The Windows Media Connect Service service depends on the Universal Plug and
Play Device Host service which failed to start because of the following
error:
%%0
I've verified that all the dependant services are set to start
automatically, and they are all in the running state. But, I still can't
start WMC. I've even re-installed XP as well as .NET v1.1.
The only thing I haven't tried is a clean install, and I really don't want
to do that. Any suggestions from anyone?
