- Microsoft Anti Spyware

How the heck do I run it? I keep downloading updates for the malicious
something or other (can't think of name right now), but there doesn't seem
to be any program shortcuts or even mention anywhere in the help for how to
find it, much less run it..
Thanks for any info

Are you asking about Microsoft Anti-Spyware or the Microsoft Malicious
Software Removal Tool
With automatic updates turned on the latter will download and run once a
month. After running it will remove itself.
MSAS once you install it will show up as a target in the Notification Area.

Well, this was true in the beginning. Since the past months, the
executable file "MRT.EXE" remains on all of my systems in the folder
%windir%\System32. Besides, this has also been reported by others.

You're right! Wonder when they changed that.

IIRC, that change took place first-time in May (tool version 1.4).

The Malicious Software Removal Tool is what I was wondering about.. I did
also last night get the other one and the Beta seems to work pretty well.

That's the ticket... why is this such a secret to us people who don't
inhabit these groups all the time? I can't find a single mention of it
anywhere in Windows XP.. you'd think the Help Files would have been updated
with some kind of reference.
Thanks for the information.
