- Missing "Power Meter" and "Alarms" tabs in Power Options Propertie
- Posted by Tony4290 on October 26th, 2005
Greetings!
I am using a Compaq N1020v Notebook. When it was new, I had all the tabs in
the Power Options Properties window. A while ago, the "Power Meter" and
"Alarms" tabs disappeared.
I have Power Schemes set to "Portable/Laptop", but it does not show me the
options for "Running on Batteries".
The battery DOES seem to be charging, but even if I have it running on
battery the power icon on the system tray always displays the "power cord"
(On AC Power).
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Start>Control Panel>Power Options>Show power icon in taskbar.
Now rightclick the power icon and click to show power meter.

Thank you for the response, but it did not work. I can already see the power
icon in the sys tray, but when I rightclick, all I get is "Adjust Power
Properties". Clicking on that just re-opens the power options window, but no
Power Meter or Alarms.
Any other suggestions?

Try running the edit on Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 203: Restore Display Icon in Control Panel
See the info at the top of the page for how to run the edit.

Thank you for your response to my problem. As it turns out, I tried that
"tweak" and it did not work.
BUT...
I found a listing for batteries under the device manager. After uninstalling
and letting the system reinstall upon boot, the Power Meter and Alarms as
well as all battery settings reappeared.
Thank you for your efforts.
