- missing system tray icon

a couple of weeks ago the safely remove hardware icon dissappeared from my
system tray. i use it to disconnect a digital camera and mp3 players. anyone
know how to get it back? i allready have "always show" checked in taskbar and
start menu properties.

i followed the advice below that i did not see in search about the xp problem
of missing system tray icons not showing up. by disabling ssdp and upap this
restored the safely remove hardware icon.

Could you be a little more specific on how you solved this. I am having
