- My computer management

After reinstall of windows XP Pro and update of sp2 etc. When I try to enter
my computer management, I get an error message that MMC cannot open the file.
The file does exist but I can't get to it. Any fixes known??

Try to invoke the Management Console directly - Start, Run (Type)
Mmc [Enter]. If it opens, there will be no Snap-ins applied. That
would indicate an issue with one of the .Msc modules is corrupted.

This happens even when I am signed in as Administrator.

This allows me to open the mmc program but when I then attempt to open the
compmgmt program I get the same error message as doing it direct. Any
suggestions??

All the Snap-ins (.msc) modules are in C:\Windows\System32. Are
you using a Administrator level account and is your XP a Home or
Professional version ? It sounds like privilege violation. Do a full PC
search for all .msc and once the list is populated try to open the msc
modules directly.
