- New installation of XP Pro problems!
- Posted by Rickster on November 2nd, 2005
I'm looking for some help here. I am building a new machine with the
following components: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, 1GB Mushkin 3500 ram, 2 EVGA
6600GT video cards running in SLI, AMD 64 3200 with the Winchester core with
2 Western Digital SATA2 250GB hard drives running on the Nvidia N4 raid
contoller. I go to load XP last night, load the raid drivers (6.70), all goes
well until the initial boot of XP. I get the XP splash screen and then a blue
screen which details a problem has occurred and windows has shutdown. Check
all of your storage connections, check for viruses, remove all raid
controllers and run chkdsk. This is all followed by what might be four error
codes at the bottom. I redo everything (format, remove and recreate the raid,
load the 6.66 drivers) and get the exact same result. This time I run chkdsk
and it immediately returns the message that one ore more areas are
unrecoverable on this volume. I am running a original version of XP without
any srevice packs to start. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know if this will resolve the issue but try the installation with
a CD slipstreamed with SP2. If you need info on how to do a slipstream
post back.

Hey Rock-
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I can definitely use information on how
to slipstream.
Thanks,
Rick
