Don't know when, don't believe when, whether it will be (even) fundamentally
new is yet to be seen as history has showed us. That is I am assuming your
talking about the Ministry of Sh!t and the proposed P!sta Beta OS.

Windows Vista? The target date is the end of 2006, but I wouldn't bet the
farm on it. There's a long history of Microsoft (and other software
manufacturers) missing their targets.

Everybody who has answered thought of VISTA but you could equally be
thinking of Microsoft Eiger which is expected to be out early next year
(1Q2006 according Gartner)!!
This will replace Windows9x and WinMe and will be able to use existing
hardware except that it will be a thin client. The idea is to generate
some revenue for Microsoft to finance bigger and better OS called VISTA.
Depending on where you are living, MS might release a scaled down
version of another OS mainly for poorer countries such as Brazil, India,
the far east, Africa etc.

I'm going to wait until at least SP1, if I even get it at all. XP is working
fine and my next computer will be a Mac. I am sick of MS' "you're a thief
until you prove otherwise" trip with two defective policemen: WPA and WGA.

What an unique idea! Microsoft getting the idea to generate some revenue.
But are you positive they need this revenue to finance a bigger and better
OS? Maybe they need this revenue to keep the richest man in the world, even
richer? From what I've read, Microsoft has no shortage of funds.
