Is there a Windows Vista forum out there to ask some questions about it (the
curiousity is killing me) or where should I go? I have already looked at
the Microsoft website to learn more about Vista. Thanks. (By the way, the
previews I've seen of Vista look a lot cleaner than they started off looking
way back when it had the Longhorn Plex and Slate. It's really come a long
ways.)

Be design. MS is banking you being at your local retail store at 12:00AM
to pay $299 for your new OS.

That better be for the ultimate edition and full retail version of Vista for
that price. How are they going to convince people to upgrade at that price?

The same way Microsoft convinced people to upgrade to
Windows XP.

Microsoft has not substantially changed the "upgrade" price to the home user
since about 1992. It always was about $89-99 dollars for Windows. Windows XP
Home upgrade edition was the same. Vista will likely be in the same
ballpark.

Windows NT 3.51, NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 were deemed to be a professional
operating system and their pricing structure was different from the others.

Hire the Rolling Stones again? Or perhaps Green Day this time, or even
Emenmen, who's gone full commercial.

Don't expect Vista until the fourth quarter of 2006, if then. Don't worry
about the long wait. Because your curiosity is killing you, you'll be long
dead before then. (Smile.) Just teasing you. I admire your enthusiasm.
I hope Vista lives up to your expectations.

Even then, you might be well served to wait until Vista SR1 is
released--to allow time for braver souls to work out the kinks in
Vista, and to allow time for the zillions of Vista-oriented virus and
spyware incidents to settle down.

I heard Vista wasn't coming out until December of 2006. When Vista releases
I don't plan on getting it immediately, and that was my intentions in the
first place. Instead, I was going to wait a while for the hacker's
Christmas to pass and to get to hear from input from users who've tried it.
I was planning on upgrading my computer if I decided to, and then after a
few months, I'd get a whole new computer and keep Vista on my current
computer. (which would mean that I would be buying two copies of Vista -
one for each machine.) Microsoft states that you should have a modern CPU.
By that are they talking AMD Athlon XP and Pentium 4 based PCs on up or
what? I know a year ago I asked the question if my CPU would meet the
requirements and they said that it did because they had drivers written for
it, but back then, I don't think the Aero interface had yet come into place.
It was still the Plex. In Vista, are they going to have a shell that is the
same as it is in XP? (Luna)

The braver souls have been hard at work doing just that and more for a great
time now!
