I cant right click my desktop, i can pull up the desktop through my start
menu, but i cant add anything to my origianl desktop view, the items are not
there. I looked to see if the desktop was locked and its not, there is
nothing wrong with the computer my anti-virus says, but i recently caught a
virus and i think that this is the issue, i recieved it through AIM i think
and it was a link, it created a bunch of shortcuts on my desktop but i have
no resolution to get the icons back onto my desktop
Please help

Have you tried to navigate to the Desktop folder and check to see if your
security permissions have been altered?

How exactly do i navigate to see if my security settings have been changed?
I am not really familiar with tasks that involve these types of problems, I
am not the best with computers, thank you for your help so far

Navigate to the directory C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>
Right click on Desktop > select Properties > click Security tab > click your
user name in the "Group or user names:" section. Your permissions are
displayed below.
