no icon when dragging file/folder outside of it's source window
Posted by delta_J on November 2nd, 2005

I have recently bought and installed a fully legit (I'm proud to say) version
of WinXP Pro SP2 after discovering I had a pirated Corporate version.

Ever since the full reinstall, whenever I drag a file or folder outside of
it's source window, ie. to the Recycle Bin, as soon as I move it outside the
window area, the icon disappears and all I'm left with is an arrow with a
grey rectangle but no transparent icon. I have the "show windows contents
while dragging" setting enabled.

I don't remember this being the case with the Corporate version, where the
entire transparent icon of the file/folder was visible while dragging outside
of the source window. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or was it
always like this only I never noticed it?

I'm running the original blue WinXP theme and the same up-to-date video
driver as before.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Perhaps caused by non current video card drivers? Get them at the
manufacturers web site to be the current ones.

no, no. I just told you my drivers are up to date. I especially checked for
and downloaded the lastest version after reinstalling Windows.

Any clue what could be going on?
