- Offline files -- user repeatedly prompted for domain credentials
- Posted by George Zervakos on May 15th, 2006
I have a user who comes in to our domain over a vpn. Whenever he tries to
synchronize his offline files, he gets prompted for his Windows credentials
repeatedly and cannot synchronize. There is no error message, he just gets
prompted to reenter his credentials. He's also tried domain\username and no
change.
If he types \\IP\share in the Run box, that gets him onto the server shares
after he enters his Windows credentials without any problems.
Has anyone seen this sort of behaviour in the past?
thanks,
George

Is he using the correct syntax? The username when connecting over a vpn
would be similar to the following:
DomainName\UserName
Maybe that's why it's not accepting his creditials.

I haven't seen this behavior before. The user has also tried the
domain\username syntax which doesn't help sadly.
The shares seem to be accessible only via start | run | \\server_ip.
