Opening password protected folders in "newly" external HD
Posted by Inder on February 19th, 2006

Hi,

My laptop's motherboard died and I successfully moved its hard drive to an
external enclosure to turn it into an external USB drive.

Problem is I can't get into my own folders now, though I can see them. No
problem opening unprotected folders. A double-click leads instantly to an
"access denied" message, without the opportunity to give it the password for
that folder.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Take Ownership, #9 on this page:

Since you have Windows XP Home, you will need to boot to Safe Mode.
