- The Operating System

I need to know how the Windows XP OS does the following:
1.Receives input from the keyboard and mouse.
2. Keeps track of files and directories on the disk
3. Controls the various units such as disks, printers, etc.
I have no idea how my OS works, and I am operating Windows XP.

Now's the time to visit a good bookstore, such as Barnes & Noble,
Border's, etc., and visit the Personal Computing section. There
are plenty of good books, starting with Windows XP for Dummies and
running up to some highly technical texts for certification exams.
Browse around and buy one or two for future reference.
