Make sure everything is wired correctly (find your motherboard manual).
If it is, then disconnect the front usb and audio wiring. You can try
to find a replacement dongle, but they tend to be case dependant, and
finding the right one may be a hunt.
If you can't find one, or the replacement is causing the same problem,
then try to disable the front usb and front audio connections. Look for
a jumper, look for the manual first 
If there isn't one, just leave
it be. Just know that the motherborad is in it's twilight years. And
pay attention to backups.
