Presario and winxp ???
Posted by L. on December 17th, 2007

Bought a Presario 8000z used a couple of years back.
Thought I had all the software cd's but here's the comment/question.

Had to replace HD.
I can't find the winxp cd. The sticker is on the back of the case.
Would it, winxp, be part of the 3 disk QuickRestore package?
If not, am I guess I'm out of luck?

thanks,

A very long time ago, when I purchased a Presario, the operating system was
part of the QuickRestore package. Mine didn't come with a separate disk for
the OS. I used those QuickRestore disks several times to restore that pc to
the same state as I purchased it, crapware and all.

Most OEM computers don't come with installation CDs. They either give
you a restore CD or a restore partition on the hard drive.

I don't know your computer in particular, but that sounds like what
you want.

Will try the QuickRestore cd's when I get home.

Another ??
The graphics card is a 32meg AGP card(nVidia2 mx400). I have a 128meg card
that is PCI.
Can I replace or should I stay with the AGP card?

More memory on the video card will give you the choice of higher
resolution and color depth. Unless you need that, I'd go with the
faster card.
