- Printer Gives EXtra sheets
- Posted by Jennifer W on September 28th, 2005
Many times when I print a website using IE 6, the printer tends to give me
one sheet extra perhaps with a footer or header on it.
Is this due to the website setup or can I change some margin setting to fix
this ?
Thanks.

I think this is due to the webpage that you are trying to print. I get it
too, but not all the time.

Use File, Print, and tick off only Page one.

I always suspect that its a conspiracy involving the printer manufacturers
and the paper and ink companies.
But seriously it is an annoyance.

Just hit cancel when the first page is done, or almost done printing.

If you're really concerned about not wasting paper, you can try
the following:
In Internet Explorer go to the File menu on the toolbar at the
top of the page and select Print Preview.
In the Print Preview window, click on the double headed arrow
that points to the right.
It will then display the last page.
Make a note of the number of the last page.
If this last page contains information you feel is not
essential you should click on the Print button at the top of
the window.
On the Print page, look for a section titled "Page range".
Click on the Pages button and enter the range in the box to the
right.
Set the range to 1-(the next to last page). For example, if the
last page was 8, you'd enter 1-7 in the box.
Click the Print button.
Close Print Preview.
Another thing you can look at is removing headers and footers
and adjusting the margins.
To do that click on the File menu and select "Page Setup" from
the menu.
You can delete the header and footer and set the margins to no
less than 0.55 inches.
