Hi, I'm trying to re-install a hp deskjet 3500 printer on a particular
computer; it installs ok on my other computers so I think it is windows
that's somehow refusing it. I get to the part where it says connect the
printer and make sure it's powered on, it says it's found new hardware and
then a Files needed window opens and says: *The file....* then it has some
funny bar code scribble, and the copy file from window is unaccessable,
meaning I cannot use the browse window to browse for whatever files it says
it needs. I have the latest drivers from hp site also I have tried the cd
that came with it to no avail. any ideas before I get madder and re insatll
windows? :-)

Have you completely uninstalled the printer, then tried to reinstall it:
