Problems connecting to servers for updates
Posted by BG on March 30th, 2006

I have been unable to connect to servers for updates. Specifically Symantec
and Spybot.
With Symantec, I get the message 'Cannot connect to server'.
With Spybot the window freezes and I get a error/crash report window and
directed to the website (which offers no solution). The task manager can't
close the program or stop the process tree.
Any ideas?

There are multiple possibilities, the more info you provide about your system
the easier it would be. If you have not rebooted your system do it and
retry. Have you loaded any new software? Is so unload, reboot and retry.
Do you have a firewall? Try turning it all the way off and retry. If they
will run, try running your Norton and spybot and see if your computer is
infected. Have you run defrag recently? Sometimes files can become so
fragmented they can not run anymore. Talk to the help desk of your ISP, ask
them about any specific settings for a good internet connection. Let me know
if these do or do not work. pcarlso$$$$@hotmail (remove the dollar signs)
