I'm Back -
Thanks for trying Bhanu, but didn't help.
Actually, at some point I must have gotten a virus.
This took me quite a bit of research which included
comparing local security settings on both my computers.
The Admin$ and C$ lan shares were both missing.
WindowsXP will restore them on a reboot unless
the registry was altered.
Here is how I fixed it:
goto: HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserve r\parameters
find: AutoShareServer & AutoShareWks (both DWORD)
mine were set to zero. When I set them to 1, and rebooted,
the missing Admin$ and C$ reappeared.
There were a couple of other things, but that was the major problem.
All is well now.
Good Luck All - and Good Night!!!
