OK went in and disabled the new user I created,
rebooted machine, the Administrator account shows up, (I think that this is
the built in administrator account)

But what is going to happen if I try and set up a new user?? Same Thing?
Scared to death to try it.

Still, What the heck happened???

the built in account (administrator) is hidden by default when there is
another user.
it can still be accessed at the logon screen by crtl+alt+del twice

This is by design. When another administrator level account is created
the built in Administrator account is hidden. It can still be accessed
though. If you have XP Pro from the login screen hit ctrl-alt-del
twice. This will bring up the account and password dialog box. Type in
"Administrator" without the quotes and the password. For XP Home boot
into safe mode and the Administrator account appears as an account to
choose on login.

The built in Administrator account should not be used for day to day
activities. It should be left as a fall back in case something corrupts
the day to day account. Create another account with admin privileges
and use that. Settings can be copied to that new account from the built
in Administrator account if you want. See this link.

The built in Administrator account can be added, if you want, to the
welcome screen. Run this edit on Kelly's site at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 5: Enable/Disable Administrator on Welcome Screen

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

As the other poster indicated, you can always get to it if you need to.
As long as you have another administrator account, you don't need it
though.
