Registry Editing Disabled by Administrator

I get "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator." error
message. I can't edit even I'm the administrator. This is a XP Pro SP2
system. What can I do?

This is often caused by malware. I recommend that you begin
troubleshooting by
going to MVP Malke's malware removal site at

following the instructions there.

Thx. Which is the key changed in Registry that causes this. In this case,
can one know which malware is running with Autoruns?

If you have XP *PRO* version you may use gpedit.msc to enable registry
tools again. When someone uses HE version then it's necessary to use
other way - for instance vbs script. ;-)

Hi,

Thx.
Mine is Win XP Pro.
How would you manage to do this using gpedit.msc?
Appreciate.

I do not remember exactly the place but it was something like that:
gpedit.msc -> User configuration -> Administrative templates ->
System -> Disable registry tools (set option to disable).
