1. I have a few keys that have the name ??? or something and I can't remove
them since they say 'Could not open key' when I try. How do I delete them?

2. I have other keys that I know are invalid, but I can't delete them at
all. How do I delete them as I am administrator but it says I don't have the
required permissions. Why don't I?

Try right clicking on the key. Click on permission. Check or uncheck the
appropriate box to give yourself permission to change or delete the key.

I would seriously recommend creating a restore point before you do anything
with the registry.

Did you know that changing the wrong thing in your registry can cause your
machine to not start or run unstable? To give the user permission to the
key, right click on the key choose permission, add the user, select the
user and select the level of permission for that user.

That's my problem. When I click permissions it says 'Permissions cannot be
changed because you do not have the required permissions for this action'.
When I try to delete them it shows

One or more keys could not be deleted.
The system could not find the file specified (2)

Other keys say when I try to delete them say

One or more keys could not be deleted.
Access is denied (5)

I can go to permissions for those keys though.

Is there any way to edit registry hive files as that will be my fastest
solution to get rid of the ???? keys?

Well I delete the ?? keys, but now I need to delete one key I am very sure is
junk.
It's the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BigFix\BigFix\DelaySta rt, and
whatever I do it won't let me remove it.

THat looks like a leftover from a program you removed. Its was legit
program, however. I think it's fine.
