"Remove" Option Missing in "Add/Remove Programs"
Posted by PK on February 11th, 2006

The uninstaller for Pinnacel Studio v.9 did something I have not seen happen
before.

When I go to Panel -> Add/Remove programs I get the list of all my
programs. However, when I click on any entry, the "Remove" buttons are
missing. The only option that is left there is information on frequency of
use.

How do I get "remove" buttons put back there?

What is interesting is, each newly installed program has the right options.
I am stuck with several programs I do not want that were there before
infamous Pinnacle snafu. I'd hate to do XP reinstall for something this
small.

Has anyone run into a similar situation?

Unfortunately, that key only has only 6 subfolders. No program listing,
except for my AV and FV software.
Is there maybe another key where this info might be stored?

Assuming that you've already uninstalled Pinnacle studio, then use the
Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the traces of that application.

My UnInstaller only shows 2 programs installed on my system. The registry
workaround also shows only 2 programs. What happened to the other entries?

The other entries may be coming from the following registry locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Produ cts

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Prod ucts
