i have inserted the disk and also got the drivers off dells website.
and still not working. i am trying to install a dell photo printer 540

Check here to make sure the Dell 540 printer is compatible with your
system: http://tinyurl.com/dfxc6
If it is, then proceed:
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > if the Dell 540 is in there,
remove it > Printers and Faxes > make sure the Dell 540 is not there, if
it is remove it.
Reboot.
Download the software (R91340.EXE) and follow the directions here:

Make sure you do this from a fully privileged account.
