- Resend: Partition
- Posted by Sirius on May 11th, 2006
My previous post went without any response, so let me try again:
Hello,
I have my 40 gig HD partitioned into 4X10gig.
I have XP in one, other stuff in the others. Still, the Windows partition is
getting full despite my thorough cleaning.
My question is:
Is there a way to make WinXP use the other partitions?
Like move the Program Files folder or the System restore backups? I already
figured out how to move Temp internet, My Docs, Email files. And of course
other installed programs. But it seems that some programs still put some
stuff in the Windows partition. Anything else I can move to other
partitions?
Should I try a different group?
Thank you.

You can uninstall programs and then reinstall using the 'custom' option and
point them to the d:\ (or whatever the other partition is called) drive.
You cannot just copy the Programs Folder into the d:\ drive as all the
registry entries that each program makes during its install will be
wrong....
You can move the My Documents folder... right click on My Documents on the
desktop, select Properties and select the new destination.
