Hi there,
has anyone ever seen anything like this before?
You try to change your desktop theme (say from XP to Classic), all the
buttons are there, the "please wait" message appears and the screen in the
background grays out (like it's thinking about it) then basically that's as
far as it gets.
After this the machine hangs and you have to restart/reset to do anything.
The [display properties] box is locked on eth screen and frozen and any
attempt to close it give you the "rundll32.exe error" message.
I have methodically stripped all spywares etc off and the machine has a
clean bill of health, but i am still unable to change this machines desktop
(Windows XP sp2). It's looking pretty dreary as it is stuck in classic (help
- it's like being stuck in the 90's). Perhaps something's been damaged?? if
so is there anything i can reinstall that doesn't scare the h3ll out of me??
(relative novice)
any ideas would be appreciated...
