- "Software Distribution Service 2.0" and System Restore

I have just gone into system restore and seen something called
software distribution service 2.0 on two dates. i have updated to xp service
pack some time ago. Could you please enlighten me to what this is?

Those are restore points created before applying an update from
Microsoft Update.
