- Standby and Print Spooler Service
- Posted by Judith on February 10th, 2006
I was trying to use the 'standby' feature on my WinXP (MCE) computer and
could not because "The service "print spooler' is preventing the machine from
entering standby. Try stopping this service and try again." I received
instructions on how to do this and it was successful; however, when I
rebooted the next time, the message returns. How do I stop the service until
I want it again even if I turn the computer off?

The Print Spooler service is set for "Automatic" so when ever the pc is
started again the service will start automatically. Change the Stratup type
to "Manual".
